Remembering Tom Skerritt
All of us at One Take are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague Tom Skerritt at the age of 93.
Tom and his wife, Julie TokaJshiki, were part of the Alan White documentary from its earliest days. When the project was still taking shape, they believed in the story we wanted to tell and chose to stand alongside us. Tom joined the film as a producer, bringing not only the credibility of an extraordinary career, but decades of experience, curiosity and a genuine belief in the power of storytelling.
His support helped give this film momentum at a moment when that mattered enormously.
Tom once said of the project that music was his first love and that he could think of no better story to tell than Alan’s. That belief stayed with us.
The world knew Tom through an extraordinary body of work spanning more than six decades. We were fortunate to know him in another way.. as a fellow storyteller who was generous enough to lend his experience, encouragement and belief to something we were only beginning to build.
Julie’s support and partnership were equally important, and we remain profoundly grateful to them both for being there at the beginning.
As we continue telling Alan White’s story, Tom will remain part of the story of how this film came to be.
Our love and deepest condolences are with Julie and the entire Skerritt family.
Thank you, Tom.
